Fury Vs. Arms - I guess the battle still continues

Prompted by recent events, like getting a new weapon, as well as recent comments made in the Glyph section and an interesting conversation I had with Jaxton (I know that might not be the right name dude but I’ll fix it when I get home lol) I decided to give Fury in PVP a whirl...wind.

If you go back through the history of Titan’s grip you can see just how quickly I fell in love with the idea and the game play, in fact if you look back at my titan grip related posts (http://warrior-guides.blogspot.com/search/label/Titan%27s%20Grip) you can see I’ve always been a great fan of it. In fact I admitted to my warrior friend from last night that I sometimes respect in hopes that it works out, in a way it’s been like a dark secret of mine. Akin to smoking in the bathroom or doing something you know you’re not supposed to be doing.

I know several times I’ve lied to my arena partner so I could feed my addiction...

Partner: Hey man what you doing wanna run some arena?
Blackthought: Ah man I can’t I am helping a friend in BG’s get some gear. (respecing as I’m typing)
Partner: Cool, hit me up later.
Blackthought: Alright (screaming at computer because fury is frustrating)
About 20 mins he finds me in Org waiting to Que for a battleground

Totalchaos: Hey man did you spec fury?
ME: lol nah my son did :( (yes I blame my 6 year old son for all the bone head things I do in game)

It’s a dark little secret, I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad if it just didn’t hurt so much. When Titan’s Grip came out EVERYONE, warrior or not, was like, “wow that’s cool”. Titan’s Grip is what made warriors different again, it made us a unique class. Go ahead think about something that makes us different, can’t can you. Warrior skills have slowly but surely been given to everyone else and the ONE TIME we finally get something that we can call our own it turns into one of two talents that actually PENALIZE YOU for spending a talent point (in case you’re wondering the other is juggernaut...another warrior skill.)

So like I said I respeced fury last night because that berserking warrior in me again wanted to wield two weapons vs. one. Again my heart was left broken and my face was left rolled

Fury sucks in comparison to ARMS pvp, essentially you only have 2 attacks. Whirlwind and BT. Everything else is just filler. Intercept is nice again I really do miss a 3 second stun, but found that for the first 2.78 seconds I’m sitting there waiting to get rage. Meanwhile my stunned target is using any number of skills to hurt me badly.

Your net usefulness is reduce by 15% in TG+Zerker stance. (10% damage reduction + 5% damage taken increase) means you’re going into a fight with the chips already stacked heavily against you...

You’re only applying instant damage every 4 seconds, and that is ranging anywhere from 1.5k-8k, which doesn’t quite stack up to ARMS. Not counting bladestorm because you can only use it every so often you’re simply hitting more with ARMS as Execute, Overpower and Mortal strike are usable WAY more often that WW BT.

What about burst damage? Well in an arena setting it’s nice if you’re doing LARGE, really large burst damage, otherwise you can do moderate damage that is most likely going to be healed up again. What about the “mortal strike like” debuff, well it doesn’t always apply so even if you are hitting 2k more burst if it’s healed like nothing what does it matter?

In BG’s it’s nice but I found myself beating something to within an inch of it’s life only to be stuck staring at them while I waited 4 seconds to hit them again...
Do you have any idea how much damage a rogue or mage does in 4 seconds? Let me help you. A mage can pull upwards of 3-4dps a second (this is very modest btw)

So if you give a mage 3-4 seconds that’s 9-16k damage you’re going to take while you wait to hit him with another round of burst for 4-8k...

I’m going to give fury ONE MORE SHOT at winning me over tonight. I’m going to run in with some Arena’s and see how things pan out.

If it fails I’ll post it here and give my final fury verdicts, which will probably read : DON’T USE FURY TILL YOU HAVE TWO (2) 212 DPS weapons, and even then do not use it in PVP Arena. BG’s go ape shyt.
