WOOOOO!!! IT’S PATCH NIGHT!!!
Oh, what a patch it is boys and girls. My favorite to be exact. The first thing I notice upon logging in is that blizzard isn’t “Retrieving Character List,” in fact they are “Ketrieving Character List”
Well this is gonna be good. As soon as blizzard stop trying to Ketrieve and started Retrieving is that my t8.5 helm now has glowing white eyes over the red ones, which looks amazingly Bad Ass…so far I like the patch. So I logg into Dalaran, which is the expected lagg fest, and I head off to the engineering trainer with all my saved up mats like a kid on his first solo trip to the candy store. Well, turns out the robot butler the engineers were promised comes from a rare pattern that you have to farm up...so that’s out for now. Normally I’d go get it, but I can only guess at the all out brawl over those mobs right now.
Just on a side note: And this will be mention on the up coming enchanting guide.
The
And the Rocket Boots now add 24 crit, better than Icewalker (if you don’t need the hit)
Wait? So I get to use those in my PvE gear? In Ulduar? YES!
Here are the patch notes for engineering if you were interested.
Engineering
§ Added a schematic for a Goblin Welding Beam that can heal friendly mechanical units.
§ Alarm-o-Bot functionality changed. Materials required reduced.
§ Box of Bombs no longer requires an anvil.
§ Doubled the duration on Nitro Boosts.
§ Increased benefits from Hyperspeed Accelerators, Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket and Reticulated Armor Webbing glove modifications.
§ Increased the passive bonus provided by Springy Arachnoweave, Flexweave Underlay and Nitro Boosts.
§ Increased siege damage caused by Saronite Bombs and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge.
§ The Ultrasafe Bullet Machine and Saronite Arrow Maker schematics have been simplified to create a full stack of the appropriate ammunition. No longer requires an anvil. Reduced the materials required to make this ammunition.
§ Mote Extractor now has innate tracking for gas clouds while it is in your inventory. Tracking of gas clouds has been removed from goggles.
§ Potion Injectors now increase the amount gained by 25% when used by engineers. Quantity produced by recipes for Runic Healing and Mana Injectors has been increased.
§ Significantly reduced the cooldown on MOLL-E.
§ Spynocular belt enchantment changed to a Brassbolt Rebreather, allowing engineers to breathe underwater.
§ Transporter devices are no longer classified as trinkets and can be used directly from your inventory.
§ Reduced the materials to create all engineering Dragonlings, and reduced their cooldowns, although they still cannot be used in Arenas.
Now the next thing on the list is to go to the Argent Tournament and pick up my new champion dalies and quests. I believe I’ll travel by my new Dimensional Ripper. J
I’m just going to do all of ya’ll a favor and list what you need to do to get all these done. The following list is for those with Crusader and those who have done the Black Night Quest
.
So you’ll notice a lot of new and intimidating stuff, like giant monsters chained up (new bosses) As well as many new vendors (we’ll get to them in just a sec) You may want to check out the new Quartermaster for Crusaders, they have a teleporting tabard, a pretty cool new mount, and a horse for your squire pet that allow him to run errands for you.
First, go pick up ALL the uests you see, including the Black Night Chain, if you didn’t finish it from pre-patch, do so, that way you can get the update.
Fly East to the graveyard, inspect the grave, kill the two guys loitering around.
Turn in, get next part.
Fly West To the new opposing scourge camp set up. Kill 15 of anymob and pick up the keys.
Use the keys on the cages to release the prisoners.
Fly up the ledge and unlock the cage all the way to the far left.
Kill the Doctor, find out that the dark night has been rebuilt
Fly to Chilmaw and kill him
Fly to where the Hero’s Spirits are and pick up the crystals and free them with the item in your bag.
Fly south and do Battle Before The Citadel (now only 3 commanders)
Fly to the center of
Fly Back to the camp and go directly north of it to a new island. Go to the east of the island near the cave mouth and kill the mobs there and pick up the stolen meat.
(Caution, they blow you off your mount…but you’re a warrior…so pfft)
Go to the NW part, use the horn, and summon Hrothgar and kill him (Hope he didn’t bring Beowulf…lolnerdjoke)
Do jousting and your done.
Alright, I have my gold, bought all the new 20 ArP gems I could afford and went into the new 5 man heroic with some guildies.
This is the best heroic.
Ever.
The last boss is a total pain though, you have to fight the black night. You kill him and he comes back as bones. You kill that and he comes back as a ghost…who you have to kill…I mean COME ON!
…
…
Oh…
I get it…
Well…I mean, its only a flesh wound.
Its amazingly short, easy, fun, and the loot is (for the most part) better than naxx. RUN IT!
Almost right after it was raid time, so we went into the new 25 man to do some bosses.
We’ll we can’t
Blizzard is releasing one boss per week, so for the time being there is only one encounter in there, also very easy. Kill a big guy. Kill 2 worms at the same time. Kill a Yeti. The Yeti you may recognize from the 1st WoTLK trailer, the fight is easy enough, tank and spank. At one point you’ll be thrown against the way and have to run away if he targets your. If you get hit he has to be tranq-shotted by a hunter and if you dodge he bumps his noggin and takes 100% more damage. We looted him, got 3 of the new badges, some caster stuff no one cares about ;) and an amazing DPS ring, which I was lucky enough to win. And a trophy that you some how use to get tier gear.
Which happens to be my only complaint about this new patch, the tier is confusing as shyt. There’s a 10 man and 25 man set and a H-10 and H-25 set. Heroic modes can only be unlocked after ever boss is killed (not possible until they are all released) and the tier gear is purchased outside for varying amounts depending on tokens, badges, and trophies.
After, we went into Uld and couldn’t make it past XT because the patch broke him so now he spawns 5x as many adds. So we just killed optionals and FL. I finally picked up the Drape of the Drake rider which upped my DPS a lot.
I’m glad to hear that Black took it unpon himself to check out the PvP, because I haven’t touched it yet. I do have to admit that I am nervous about my brand new 3s team (War/Druid/DK) with the druid and dk nerfs…oh well…I’m a raider anyway.
Coming up soon will the full enchanting guide and it looks like you guys want the Boss Guides out soon too, so I’ll begin work on that.
Here are a few screen shots I took of some new content for ya’ll to see. Enjoy, and happy patch day….night…yesterday…

Guess who got the Axe from the blackknight?
YUP ME.
Time to start some more fury testing. I stayed up till like 3 in the morning after I got the axe and tested and tested and tested and I think I can say that as far as dps goes The Jawbone plus the...(edge of something from HCoC) in fury put up AROUND the same DPS as just the The Jawbone in Arms. So IF I wanted to I could go Fury now.
I also spent around 300g in respecing for PVP fury, PVE Fury, Mace spec, axe spec, Mace spec PVP, Axe Spec PVP... oh it’s all just so CONFUSING at this point. BUT I made some great headway into finding a decent build for each. Situation
ARMS PVP MACE
ARMS PVP AXE
ARMS PVE MACE
ARMS PVE AXE
FURY...the same
I didn’t get a chance to test the Concussion blow spec simply because I didn’t have the time, but I think I’ll be trying it out tonight for some fun. It’s the weekend right? Why the hell not.
Oh I also found out last night that I’d done one of the most BONE HEADED thigns I’d done in a long time.
After my last respec from FURY I went arms again and speced AXES...I have the Jawbone...which is not an axe FYI.
So for the last week I’ve been running without the additional ArP bonus from the Jawbone.
Oh and the New instance is REALLY fun i thought. The last boss is a Pain in the ass and I disliked the dismount death after the first fight (if only they gave you a 5 second window to adjust and for the tank to get agro).
I wiped twice on each boss but it’s ok the walkback is quick and if you need to repair it’s RIGHT outside:)
Great instance to farm.
Yea your almost guaranteed to wipe on the first boss, unless you have a Jesusadin to tank for you, also I love the black knight joke...although it did take me a minuet to get.
I know it doesn't directly apply but i have found the Prot spec the best BG spec for those not in all 232 gear and weps. devastate and shockwave work great and you have the extra 8k or so on armor. no problems with alot of guys. with Arms you are dead meat and bladestorm takes to long to c/d. Fury not so sure but i imagine the same squishyness unless you are very good and have 232 type stuff. I am tired of trying to tank and not being able to hold agro. I have rerolled a druid and will keep my 80 war for bg's and shards but damn if it isnt dishartening that for the most part we are percieved as one trick avg-poor Tanks in endgame unless you have a good guild rep/spot or as i mentioned the type of gear you have to pull off legit DPS so you can DPS and not be relugated to Tank... not alot of options for a casual 20-25hr a week gamer who does not want to tank but rather would like to kill like warriors are suppose to. Puffyd Grizz Hills. BTW thanks for all the help! I will keep reading.
I'll tell you what Byron, i agree with you to a degree. I"m a 20-25hr a week player myself. I play 3-5 times a week about 2-4 hours at a time. I am in a guild but more as comic relief. I pug most things and i LOVE PVP, as a result i've spent HUNDREDS of hours in BG's, so when I tell you I know what you mean, trust me, i know what you mean.
My first suggestion would be to get into a casual guild.
If you find that's not an option PUG the hell out of some heroics for badges (honestly this is why I love the changes the made, because it suits me just fine)
As for DPS gear is huge I will admit and trust me when I say that I'm sure most warriors have alts they play to get rid of some of the rage, you should create a druid, i personally have a warlock. In the end i find i always come back to blackthought.
I'm willing to be you will come back too. GO heal something, hell roll a druid on Deathwing and you can come heal me in Arenas :)
As for BG's you MUST grind a hateful set at minimum. ABSOLUTE minimum. NOW you can also grind for deadly gear using badges.
When you do come back if PVP is still your thing then grind you some honor points and go get you some gear.
Keep reading and i know you'll be back to smacking the shyt out of rogues and hunters and mages in no time.
Oh the reason you need the PVP gear is because resilience does make a difference now.
thanks- yeah i am a guild commander in a pretty casual guild. Still the DK's and Pali's DPS and the warrior is suppose to tank. That is how it is unless of course you PUG like you said and can back it up with your gear. Getting from 80 and my hateful/triumph stuff to the 232 is the million dollar q and the hard one for warriors currently. blizz had done a damn good job of screwing up warrior mechanics and dps.thx.
