Tailoring Vs. Blacksmithing - Proc Vs On Demand AP
MOST warriors I’ve run into take to professions blacksmithing and some gathering (usually mining) I think it’s because of the way it appears that you can make your own gear if you blacksmith your own items.
First off let’s not kid ourselves; you’re not going to make your own gear beyond level...15.
After that what do you get from blacksmithing as a profession? If you don’t know I’ll tell you.
You get an extra 2 sockets for gems.
1 in your bracers and 1 in your gloves.
So depending on how you view things you can go 20+ strength or 20+ ArP. (If you’ve gone with mining as your “other” profession)
So what does that translate into? Well respectively it’s 80 AP( 20 strength x 2 gems x 2 AP per strength) or you can get 40 ArP rating.
....wooohooo???? I mean really 80 AP is all you get for spending all that money and time it takes to get Blacksmithing up?
So here’s the idea that’s been posed.
WHAT ABOUT TAILORING?
Ok high end tailor gives you the following
400 AP for 15 Seconds. I’m told the proc rate is once per minute.
IF that is the case then here are the numbers.
400/60 = 6.667 AP per second
6.6667*15 seconds = 100AP bonus increase in your AP Over a minutes time.
Compare that against the bonus from blacksmithing which is 80 (88 if you have a 10% stat increase)
Well what about the berserker weapon enchant?
Well let’s look at it like this. I’m sure we’re all aware of the Berserker Enchant, which is basically a 1000g+ version of the tailoring profession + an armor reduction debuff. How man arms warriors do you see with this enchant...now you can ask them why
Ironically enough if we look at the math on the Tailoring we can clearly see that Massacre is a much better berserker as Berserker will only create a 100AP bonus every minute (if it procs every minute) whereas massacre is a consistent 110ap.
So how does this translate into warrior speak.
Well first off in a PVP setting I personally don’t like “Proc” trinkets. Things like the anvil and mirror, even victory banner from TOC have a 1000 ap proc chance...but what happens when you get the proc but there’s nothing to hit? Or you’ve been frozen and that proc is steadily ticking away? Don’t get me wrong it’s a VERY nice thing to have when you’re able to hit something, but when in arena and battle ground sometimes you’re not always able to be right up on an opponent.
So even if we look at the tailoring bonus (100AP/min) vs the two gem bonus (80 AP/Min) in order for the tailoring bonus to come into play in a pvp setting you’d have to be ON your target when it procced and hope to all hell the target stood still for 15 seconds while you used your new AP bonus. (god forbid it’s a mage with blink up, or a druid who decides to cyclone you)
So I would personally say in a PVP setting you’d be better off with a CONSISTENT bonus to your AP
PVE is another story IMHO as you tend to ALWAYS be on a target. For PVE I will always run with my Anvil and my Victory Banner (I don’t like the mirror because it requires I be hit, whereas the anvil requires me to hit) and THEY CAN BOTH PROC AT THE SAME TIME. On test dummies while being SELF buffed I can get to over 6k AP...self buffed mind you, and as they have the same time on CD they tend to both proc at the same time as they are both “HIT” trinkets.
I would think the same applies in regards to Massacre and Berserker. The berserker enchant works exactly like the Tailoring as we’ve said so that’s 100AP bonus in a minute. Massacre ALWAYS gives you 110 AP, so IMHO I would try for Massacre over berserker.
So I’ll pose the question what’s your opinion on the matter. I’ve stated my case...do you have a different take on the matter?

New Cataclysm Races - Worgen
New Cataclysm Races - Goblins
The bottom Bun:
Well I’m sure you’ve all seen the video of Cataclysm. It’s actually pretty cool IMHO. I like it. I think it’ll be interesting.
The MEAT:
WTF is up with Alliance getting Worgen? I mean come on was this to appease the dark side of alliance players? You know it’s not even that they got Worgen, it’s that Horde get’s Goblins what’s up with that?
It’s like they said we have two new cars you can drive in the game.
Alliance, you’re getting a Porsche.
Horde, you get the smart car.
Of all the classes in the game Goblins are the best Blizzard could do? I simply cannot believe that out of all the creativity used to create the game and continue to keep it interesting that GOBLINS was the last thing standing. And have you seen the back story... I mean ? It’s like Gilligan’s Island meets Lost with a dash of A-Team.
I suspect it was brought on by typical (yeah I’m baiting here) alliance QQ that they had Gnomes...ah well I’ll just have to buy more Potions of Strength to make myself larger...wait wtf am I talking about I’m not rolling a goblin.
The OTHER MEAT (it’s a double meat sandwich)
Blood Elf Warriors – Let it be know that if you roll a BE warrior I get to slap you. Seriously I will target you first and foremost in any battleground. I’m going to level an alliance JUST to do this. If I’m on a horde character and I see you getting jumped in a battleground I’ll simply keep on walking.
Warriors are not supposed to be feminine...hell even women warrior’s are not Feminine.
You simply CANNOT make a BE NOT Feminine. It’s just not right.
The Top Bun:
...Tanking razorscales is fun.
That is all.
Oh wait here’s an interesting question I’m sure no one at blizzard thought to ask.
What happens when you spell Worgen backwards?
.
.
.
Like I said, perhaps not ENOUGH thought went into this whole “new race” thing.

ToC 10 and 25. 1st 3 Bosses.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to run the new raid yet, you really should jump on it. I recommend that you go read one of those boss guides out there and jump on it. I mean the 10 man ToC loot is better than 25 man Uld, there’s no trash, and the bosses are so easy, a paladin could do it. What’s that? What do you mean there’s like no guides out there for ToC? Well fear not, I’ll oblige.
So with 3.2 we got 6 new instances. 5 man ToC and 5man HToC. You should try to run these everyday. We also got 10man ToC and 25man ToC. Each of these started out with one encounter and blizzard is releasing another one every week, until the end. Once you beat all the bosses on the normal 10 and 25 man mode, you can do it on heroic.
Currently there are 3 encounters, and that’s what I’ll be covering today.
The first encounter is to fight THE BEASTS OF NORTHREND or some stupid RP crap like that. It’s a dirty Minotaur, some gummy worms, and a over grown yeti.
Boss Encounter 1.
After you begin the encounter, the 1st baddie comes out, have your tank pick him up and tank him by the door. He stacks a debuff, and you’ll have to taunt off at 2 or 3 stacks of it like Gluth in Naxx. For some reason he also had an army of 5 snowbolds that he will throw onto people; ALL DPS must switch onto them and burn them down fast, after all 5 are down focus on the boss.
Next two big worms come out. Acidmaw and Dreadscale, nature and fire respectively. Your two tanks each pick one up and separate them. Acidmaw, must die 1st, this will cause Dreadscale to soft enrage (30%) its not a big deal, and can be healed through. Acidmaw will put a nature debuff on you or the tank and will slow you down until you become paralyzed and die. Dreadscale puts on a fire debuff that will burn the pretty off your axe. The fire debuff will hurt the people near you, so be careful. If the tank gets the nature debuff, someone with the fire must run by him to get rid of it, if a dps gets it, you have to try to get him to a fire guy or vice versa. There is not a way to remove the fire debuff.
The 3rd beast you fight is a large yeti. It’s a tank and spank with only one ability. At one point he will throw everyone back and pin you against the wall. He will target one person in the raid and charge them. Your job if you get targeted is to do this.
GTFO NAO!
And get away from the person he’s targeting. Right before he charges you get 200% movement speed for like 6 seconds. You have to be a knuckle dragger (or paladin) to screw this up. If he hits one the paladins you brought with you…or anyone really, buts lets be realistic. The pally (or other) will die instantly and the boss will enrage 2 shot your tank. If he misses and hits the wall he takes 100% damage for like 10 seconds and its GG.
Boss Encounter 2.
This is my favorite; it starts out with a hilarious intro with a gnome. You’ll see what I mean.
This boss is a demon lord. (like you haven’t killed 10,000 of them)
He’s pretty much a tank and spank with 3 abilities. He spawns fire on a person, that person needs to move because Fire=Bad. He will spawn a little female servent, all the melee ( and ranged too depending how much of each you have) switch to her and kill her fast.
He also spawns a volcano which spawns internals (seems to me like the middle can could be cut out.) which the range have to take out, they do a pulsing AoE that will kill your melee. Other than that’s he’s pretty simple.
Boss Enounter 3.

Marrowstrike vs. Edge of Ruin...part 2
Well I was fortunate enough to get Edge of Ruin early on. I’ve had it for something like a week or so now, maybe even 2 weeks. I love it, it’s a huge jump in numbers from my Jawbone. I hit harder and after looking at the stats on it and comparing it to Iron soul and marrowstrike I really thought I had “THE” weapon to have before getting into 1k top end damage type weapons. The Edge has a large strength increase and appears to give a warrior everything he wants.
Well last night as luck would have Marrowstrike dropped. Now I DID have to pay someone 600g to NOT roll for it, but I wanted to test the theory out that Marrowstrike was the better of the three weapons.
When I got it and put it up side by side next to my Edge of Ruin I really wanted to kick myself in the ass. I even considered trying to trade it back to the guy I’d given the 600g to. I was patient however; and went forward with spending another little bit of money on a 85 ap enchant I even dumped some of my honor into a red 20+ Strength gem to socket the Marrowstrike with.
When all was said and done I gained something like 1% crit and lost 50ap. My damage range was also reduced by 13.
On paper I lost. :(
Ever the scientific warrior I went out to the dumbies and started swinging. First just regular swings. Marrowstrike won. The a pretty standard rotation of Rend, Mortal strike Proc Overpower and Execute...Marrowstrike won. ...”wtf is going”, on I’m thinking at this point.
So naturally I wanted to hit a gnome with it. Off to the battlegrounds.
OMG... Now I don’t know what mechanics got fugged up in the last “hot fix” but Marrowstrike hits MUCH harder than Edge of Ruin. I can’t compare it to Ironsoul because I don’t have it but in the battle of Marrowstrike vs. Edge of Ruin, while on paper Edge of Ruin would appear to be the better weapon, marrowstrike was much more to my liking. Literally of the 5 bg’s I did I was top damage in 4 of them. The 5th one was kinda a fluke and I ended up being gang raped in a 6v2 scenario in AB...I was only able to come in 3rd in overall damage done. (keep in mind I spent a great deal of time at the gy cussing at the 5 guys sitting at stables not doing a damn thing...I digress)... But YES Marrowstrike hurts people...badly
I then took things to the next level and found a 3rd person for my 3v3 team and we were off to the races.
Again I’ll say. OMG does this thing hit hard. Pretty regular 6k WHITE SWINGS crits with a back to back OP proc, ms + execute and you’re talking about blowing something up in a matter of a few seconds. Clothy is like dross in a fire (save warlocks who are just pissing me off as of late), druids can’t heal through it, rogues can’t vanish from it, mages get hit with 5k heroic throws by it, women weapons want to have it’s baby and lesser weapons aspire to BE it. We went 14-4 or 5 or something like that (I was up till 2am so excuse me if things are a bit fuzzy). 2 of those losses came at the hands of me being disconnected after I’d already entered the Arena and my team having to go 2v3.
My advice to you is get it, enchant it and kill things with it. Don’t let hunters tell you it’s a Hunter’s weapon either. Ask them how many times they plan on swinging it at something, then tell them to go STFU and need roll like you did.
So was it worth the 600g I spent? Absolutely, I got a bargain.
Randul the Dwarf has a couple of interesting comments on this whole topic as well, in fact you could say he inspired my WANT of Marrowstrike.

Warrior Tips and Trick - Know your Enemy
Such is the case with the following post from Euripedes (the Mage): http://criticalqq.wordpress.com/2009/08/19/buff-your-reflexes/
Now if you can’t fathom reading something a mage wrote I’ll break it down in warrior speak a little bit
Did you know that a spell/ability is not cast till you RELEASE the button you press and not when you press it?
For instance I have bound execute to my caps lock button for some quick pinky reflex action. When I see execute comes available I have to press and release the caps lock button before I swing. IF I were to press and HOLD the caps lock button and wait to release till I saw execute become available I could the simply RELEASE the caps lock to cast execute.
“But Blackthought...SO THE FUK WHAT!!”
Let me explain.
If you’ve ever seen Office Space (the movie) the main characters set up a program to steal pennies that are normally rounded away from bank transactions. What results is both funny and pertinent to this topic.
While the main characters of this movie screwed the pooch in the program, the theory was to take a LITTLE but of A LOT of transactions. Same principle applies here. Let’s say you shave .25 seconds off of each execute, MS, or Overpower. That’s one fourth of a second (go ahead and try I’ll wait while you press a button and try to count how long it takes....ok so it’s about a fourth of a second). Now let’s say in a raid setting you swing what...150 times? Well what if you could shave .25 seconds off of each moral strike or overpower?
Do I need to finish connecting the dots are can you see where you’d game some extra time to swing away?
As for PVP applications who here hasn’t seen execute become available and then swing to find you JUST missed that blinky mage by a fraction of a second? Guess what one fourth IS a fraction of a second. See where this could be nice?
How about fury warriors and SLAM? What if you simply hold down “f” and when you see SLAM come up you simply let go of “f”? Saves you a little bit of time each and every time.
Prot warriors uh sword and board or shield slam or revenge come to mind right off the bat.
Check it out it’s fun, and pretty damn effective too.
Say thank you to the mage BTW.
And if you already knew this why not let someone know?

Prot, Prot, Burst - Prot PVP
No it’s not the “new” duck, duck, goose, but it MAY be just as fun.
Yesterday I was sitting atop a mountain meditating, pondering the meaning of life, the sound of one hand clapping, the noise of silence, the sound a tree makes when it falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, I looked up into the sky and wonder “just how high is up”, I asked myself “why is abbreviation so long”. The serenity that surrounded me took me to an imaginative place of wonder and...ah who the hell am I kidding I was staring at my comp screen looking at my ghost in arena while my shaman buddy ran around in ghost wolf form trying to get away from some folks, he failed of course, but while I was sitting there It hit me like a ton of bricks.
What if, now hear me out, what if TWO prot warriors, yeah I said it TWO prot warriors and a burst of your choice (IMO Hunter or Lock) went into 3v3?
Before you stop reading hear me out and let me explain just a second.
In pvp burst is king as we know, as is survival correct?
Ok we all know prot isn’t going to BURST anyone down, BUT we also know prot isn’t going to GET burst down am I right?
So let me explain my theory and how I’ll be looking for a volunteer soon to help me test this out.
Prot#1 – This guy is actually going to be a hybrid he’s going to get everything but shocking wave, and he’s doing this to get mortal strike. (this may not be needed BTW)
Prot#2 – A regular run of the mill prot pvp build, make sure to get improved revenge and gag order, improved spell reflect
Burst – I think warlock because they have their own healing abilities as well as CC, plus a suc can help with the overall strategy here.
Ok in pvp most fights are VERY BURST orientated the first 2 mins of a match right? Most burst teams are going to focus fire on one target tossing spells, CC and just about everything at one target. The beauty of this set ups is shield wall, which pretty much will negate all “burst damage” in addition to spell reflect, with two prot warriors when timed correctly roughly ever other spell is going to be sent right back to the caster. AND because you are prot spec each time you cast spell reflect you’re applying it to your team as well (I actually have to check to make sure this happens arena). EVEN without this lets just say the two prot warriors get the spell reflect that’s still ok.
The method of operations is simple.
Plan#1
1. Cycle through stuns to keep one DPS frozen while you’re burst completely rips them up.
2. The hybrid guy MUST get a mortal strike on the first target (again possibly not needed because of the next step)
3. The other prot, WHILE the target is stunned must immediately silence the healer or other DPS via gag order and heroic throw.
4. Continue to the “stun lock” on the focus target until it dies.
5. Send the succ to annoy the healer or other caster dps.
Plan#2 is simple also.
1. Charge the healer, have one guy hit him with Concblow
2. The guy who just used concblow has to gag or disarm one of the DPS guys.
3. Burst starts blowing the healer up.
4. Now you can either wait for the healer to try to heal and silence him...OR you can STUN him again with Conc blow #2
5. Lock sends succ to annoy other dps
Ok lets look at a chaos bolt. It’s going to hit for lets say a conservative 4-7+k right? Add two shield slams to that and you have an average10k+ opening attack PLUS mortal strike, PLUS silence heals, plus a very stunned target, PLUS two warriors who if they are the focus targets should have casted shield wall (effectively cutting DPS and the need for heals.) PLUS a shyt load of damage mitigation via tclap and disarm plus a damn near constant spell reflect (which can actually be used as a weapon)

Arms PVP vs. Fury PVP vs. Prot PVP 3.2
First and for most let me draw the following conclusions up front, then explain them.
ARMS – Best for arena, and Battlegrounds
FURY – Good & Fun for Battlegrounds, Arena only in the RAREST of occasions
PROT – Good & Fun for Battlegrounds, Arena only in the RAREST of occasions
Now that that’s out of the way lets continue.
ARMS PVP –
Basically ARMS is going to be your best PVP spec. Mortal strike, Overpower, Execute, Rend, thunderclap, bladestorm and a few other skills separate ARMS form the two other specs...That and the “OMG-STOP-HITTING-ME-SO-HARD” damage you deal coupled with the “DAMN-DAMN-DAMN-MY-HEALS-SUCK” Mortal Strike debuff and ARMS becomes ever more solid as THE BEST PVP spec for a warrior.
In Arena ARMS outshines because of Mortal strike, plain and simple. Where fury does have some good dps, it means nothing if the person’s health is back in half a second. Your ability to keep within range and your ability to keep Mortal Strike on a target are what will make or break your Arena results.
In battlegrounds ARMS lets you fly around a battle field. Your ability to use Intercept as well as charge provides you with the GET UP AND GO you need to get up and go meltsomeone’s face. Bladestorm works great in groups as does tclap for honor grinding.
Your ArP in arms mode, is enough to give you a slight extra boost to damage and is ONLY a buff, which is to say you don’t GIVE anything to get this, whereas in the other two specs you either give up damage given or damage taken.
While you do not have any INSTANT spell interrupts you have something which is almost as good and depending on the situation may be better, Overpower, which when speced gives you the ability to reduce casting effectiveness by 50% for 10 seconds or to put it in an example.
You hit a healer casting who would have healed for 5000.
The heal now only heals for 2500
If the heal target also has the mortal strike debuff there’s 50% to that 2500.
Which turns a 5k casted heal into a 1250 actual heal; which is 75% of the original heal.
And this little combo alone is what gives ARMS such a large edge over the other two specs.
FURY PVP -
I know, you’ll cite me some example of a fury warrior doing all these great things or how you’re fury and you do just fine...you’re an oddity if this is you and your example is an oddity if you want to provide one.
I understand guys, I do. Titan’s grip is like a warrior’s wet dream with a supermodel subject, but since the nerf it’s the warriors wet dream with an ugly fat chick. So basically it’s like a really cool thing, but then...not so much, in fact not at all and while you WANT it to be cool, fact remains it’s not....
So again I’m sorry.
.
.
BUT,
It is fun. In battlegrounds you really lose no “effectiveness”, this is primarily do to the nature of battlegrounds.
One about half the BG isn’t going to be geared so you’re fighting lesser opponents right off the bat.
Two there are seldom any heals and when there are they are spread out.
This is optimal for a Fury warrior because you deal such a large amount of damage in such a short amount of time that it anyone NOT having a consistent stream of heals hitting them is going to not wanna be near you.
You do have large burst damage but truth be told in Arena burst and king but consider you’re also taking 5% more damage and now you have a healer “unbursting” all that burst you did and NOW you have a slow cooldown between your next yellow attacks. Which only provides more time for a healer to get your target back up to snuff. You are very kiteable by most classes even with a decreased intercept cooldown and the ability to instant intercept.
Now I did say RARE occasions FURY is ok to use and may work. If you are an uber warrior and know what the hell you’re doing you can probably pull this off in an arena, keep in mind you have to have perfect heals as well and you would still be better off in arms. If you are in a 3v3 or 5v5 this may also work if you already have a warrior applying mortal strike, but even then you’d benefit your team more by specing arms and using TWO bladestorms.
Stick to battlegrounds in fury.
PROT PVP –
I love it for BG. Not because you put up big numbers and not because you drop things in two swings, but because you can take ALL the damage a team wants to thrown at you and still have time to cripple a team AND type /dance.
As I’ve said before you have the ability to be like batman. Stuns, reflects, fear, a seemingly endless supply of life, silencing throws, armor reducing effects, disarms. You can now also dish out a respectable amount of dps, AND if you are geared and such for it a shield slam CAN really hurt. (I have a story about running with an elemental shammy and prot pvp in Arena skirmishes I’ll tell you later)
In BG’s you run around causing general annoyance. I like to call Prot the little brother spec. It’s annoying as hell but you learn to love it.
In arena, again only in the rarest of occasions, is it worth anything. I would say it’s viable in a 5v5 setting and in the “proper” 3v3 team makup. In 2v2 it is a VERY difficult class to make viable. HOWEVER it can be done. Sadly I’d say prot has more place in Arena than fury.
If you want to try prot pvp out I would go with a VERY high end dpser and focus on stunning a single target while the DPS nukes. Spell reflect really helps out in this environment as does an heroic throw at a healer because of the silencing abilities. Basically charge the NON healer, conc blow to stun, heroic throw at the healer, shockwave to stun again, finish off with a revenge. Works best with a RANGED dps class.
So that’s basically it. I hope you take away that ARMS is your arena spec and fury and prot are both good in BG’s.
To put it another way on a mullet ARMS would be up front (business) and Fury and Prot would be in the back(party).
Hope that helps clear things up.

THIS JUST IN FROM MMO-CHAMIPON
Other sites started it, I'll try to finish it. Think twice before you read this post, we have a lot of spoilers here.
Most of this stuff will be announced at the Blizzcon anyway, if you didn't take the time to order the live stream you might want to consider doing it. We will probably see a lot of interesting things here.
http://blizzcon.rayv.com/
Forums - The WoW Cataclysm General Discussions forum is now available.
Update - Another update from the Something Awful forums has been confirmed and is now integrated to the post. (The original quote was removed by the author's request on SA)
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is the next expansion for World of Warcraft. Dark and forgotten threats that have long stayed out of sight have finally arrived on our shores, unleashing a cataclysmic event upon Azeroth and now preparing more nefarius plans to take it back.
Level Cap
The level cap in the next expansion will be slightly lower than expected this time around; 85. good
This suggests Blizzard wants more room for expansions before hitting the level 100 cap. With less leveling to do (along with the revamped leveling listed below likely to increase the speed and ease of leveling), leveling a new race remains appealing for new and existing players alike.
Leveling from 80-85 should be a much bigger deal, the idea is to make sure that gaining a level really means something and doesn't make you feel like you just have 4 more levels to go.
New Classes
Cataclysm doesn't introduce any new classes to the game. Instead, Blizzard have offered more race and classes combinations to players. The Some of these have alreadly been datamined from the 3.2.2 Test Realms. The An Injured Colleague quest and it's new Night Elf counter-part help to introduce the lore for these new race and class combinations, so we can probably expect to see more of these for some of the less traditional ones.
- Human Hunter-Saw that comming
- Orc Mage-...k
- Night Elf Mage-w/e
- Dwarf Mage-oh the lolz
- Blood Elf Warrior-warriors with a racial silence, thats balanced. not
- Dwarf Shaman-.........what?....
- Undead Hunter...lame.
- Tauren Paladin...HAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAH...HA.AH HA
- Tauren Priest
- Gnome Priest-There gonna need to pray if they're gonna take gnomer back form that lvl 27 elite mob.
- Troll Druid-thats just dumb
New Races
The events of the cataclysm has caused two new races to seek new allies. The Goblins for the Horde and the Worgen for the Alliance.
Well looks like I was wrong.
Goblins
Deathwing once again sought the services of the goblins, as slaves. Unable to refuse such an offer, the goblins were enslaved by him. A large group have resisted however. With their previous homes devastated by the cataclysm, they escaping to an island off the coast of The Barrens. As they strive to recover, they come across an Orc captured on an Alliance ship and rescue him. The Orc turns out to be none other than Thrall himself, and in return offers the Goblins a place within the Horde. These events are carried out in a quest line, allowing players to experience first-hand the reasons behind the Goblins' shift from neutrality.BUT WHO WILL KILL ME WHEN I DEFEND MYSELF FROM THE HORDE IN BOOTYBAY!? WHO!?
Worgen
The cataclysm has cracked open the Greymane Wall, finally revealing what has happened to the kingdom of Gilneas and its citizens. With the Worgen cruse taken hold, they have found a partial cure, allowing thme to retain their Human minds evne when transformed. Venturing forth from Gilneas and seeking help from the Alliance, they have decided to join them, to combat the new threats of Cataclysm.
Gilneas will make extensive use of the phasing system (much like the Death Knight starting area), to show what happened while the kingdom was cut off from the rest of the world and lead up to present day.
Worgens will have two forms, a Worgen form and a Human form. Players will be able to customise the look of both forms. okay well that's pretty cool
New Content
Cataclysm will be the first expansion not to introduce a new continent, instead making use of previously unreleased zones and revamping existing ones.Blizzard is lazy.
Classic Azeroth Revamp
A cataclysmic event caused by Deathwing and Azshara will change the face of Azeroth as we know it. Most of the new content for Cataclysm will take the form of a revamped Azeroth, taking advantage of newer additions to WoW such as phasing and daily quests. Most of the quests and mobs in the classic zones will also be redesigned to make leveling less painful. With the revamp, a greater narritive and sense progression will be offered to players. Some zones and dungeons will change drastically to fit this, e.g.,
- The Barrens will be split into two separate zones of two different level bands. you mean one zone for 20 levels was a bad idea?
- Azshara will become a low level (~10-20) zone. i'll still never visit
- Some of the zones like the Thousand Needles will be flooded. the desert? i'm gonna love to see this play out
- Durotar is wrecked and apparently Orgrimmar could be destroyed. A new Orc city is rebuilt over the course of the expansion. Owned.
- Gnomeregan will be part of the expansion as well and gnomes might be able to reclaim their capital. (The last part is still unconfirmed) probably not
- Wailing Caverns will be become a lush tropical area as a result of the druid's magic.
- The Blackrock Spire will erupt and a new version of Blackrock Mountains will be available, apparently Ragnaros will be back too.BY FIRE BE PERGED!
In the aftermath of the cataclysm, and the new conflicts on the horizon relief efforts can be found in many zones and new open PvP areas similar to Lake Wintergrasp. All your server lagg is belong to us!
Flying in Azeroth
Part of the redesign of the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor is the introduction of flying to the two continents, allowing access to many new areas and quicker travelling across the large continents. You know this hist is pissing me off, 1st you can now get a fkn mount for 4g at lvl 20....and now this!? I DEMAND a rebate for my time and gold that i spent on my mount. (I paid all the origional prices)
Classic Dungeon Revamp
Redesigning Onyxia's Lair in Patch 3.2.2 was just the first step. As most of the leveling will take place in revamped areas of Azeroth, so too will the dungeons, allowing players to use them to level from 80 to 85. Damn you guys are lazy. Is Illidan gonna be back now? Artthus? are we going to kill the same bosses for ever?
Unreleased Zones & Dungeons
With the addition of flying mounts to Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms and the redesign of many zones, most of the previously unreachable or incomplete zones will now be made available to players. This is where most of the new content from 80 to 85 will take place. Some of these are,
- Hyjal (present) It's only been 5 years
- Gilneas - The Worgen starting Zone.
- Uldum
It is unclear if the old Goblin locations such as Kezan and Undermine will be included in Cataclyms with the revelation of the goblins' plight, but several new islands have also been risen from the seas by the events of Cataclysm, some on the backs of giant sea turtles and whales, with the addition of several underwater zones.
Characters and Events
Deathwing
Deathwing the Destroyer / Neltharion the Earth-Warder will play a major role in Cataclysm. Having been driven mad by Old God whisperings and turning against his own kind only to be fail in his attempts, Deathwing has sunk into the shadows. While the Horde and the Alliance were busy fighting back the Burning Legion only to then be beset with the Scourge, he has been lurking and moving things into place. After Lady Sinestra's failed attempts to create aTwilight Dragonflight, he again retreated to Grim Batol and succeeded where she failed. With his results seen in the Obsidian Sanctum, he has finally created the supreme Dragonflight he sought and plans to unleash it upon the world. But what of the Old Gods' sway over him?
Azshara
Queen Azshara will also play a major part in Cataclysm. Unknown to many mortal races, long forgotten by others, and believe to be dead by her own kind, she has not been dormant in depths of the Maelstrom. Having those around her transformed by the Old Gods into Naga after her failure in the War of the Ancients, she has become far more powerful and a greater threat than she once was. Not content with just Nazjatar and the depths of the sea, Azshara seeks to reclaim power and reign once again. With the true plan behind Lady Vashj's support of Illidan remaining a mystery we do not know what hand Azshara has yet played. The big question remains, is she now serving her "saviors", the Old Gods?
The Cataclysm
I'm still not sure who is the true end boss of Cataclysm is, but the cataclysm appears to have been caused by attempts to incantation to summon extremely powerful beings using an ancient incantation by Deathwing and Azshara. They're both very powerful, but the cataclysm itself suggests something more powerful is behind it, perhaps their shared past of Old God influence?
The Guardian of Tirisfal
Malfurion Stormrage will be returning to Azeroth to aid in the creation of the new Guardian of Tirisfal - Thrall! Med'an's role in these events is currently unknown. What does the Ally leader get? nothing? Malfurion Stormrage is a NE ffs.
The New (New) Horde
Thrall will hand over the leadership of the Horde to Garrosh Hellscream (were boned), while he serves as a coordinator for both the Horde and Alliance forces in and effort to combat the new threat of the Naga and Black Dragonflight. Without Thrall to keep Garrosh in check, he declares open war on the Alliance.(damn faster than i thought, that was only 1 sentence!)In the political upheaval Cairne Bloodhoof is implicated as a traitor to the Horde and murdered by Garrosh. Cairne's son Baine takes over as the new Tauren chieftan. This could explain why Baine was removed from the game in Patch 3.2.2, you can find more information about this in Ahmo Thunderhorn - replacement for Baine Bloodhoof?
3.2 Warrior PVP - Honor Grinding
Ok so we’ve been talking TONS about PVE for a while now, a couple of hints at PVP here and there but I thought I’d drop a little something, something on the topic of honor grinding.
3.2 made grinding for honor as easy as grinding for sand in the desert. AND YET, some people still aren’t reading the patch notes well enough to capitalize on some of these things.
THE BIGGEST increase to honor that you’ll find IMHO is the defense of flags. I was doing some BG’s yesterday and I noticed that on some bg’s I was getting like 700-800 honor and then in other I was getting 1900-2200 honor.
Yeah quite a difference right? I also noticed that the 1900-2200 honor was coming from AB. (Which is good because I LOVE AB) and WSG, which is also good because if you go prot it’s cake work.
Yeah oddly enough if you DEFEND THE FLAG you make honor hand over fist, the cool thing is that it also helps you win AB...so it’s like killing two birds with one axe. I’m all for the quick kill in AB too, but I found that by not fighting it out a little that I was hurting my honor per hour count.
So I would suggest adding the following macro to your arsenal.
/BG get and DEFEND 3 zones, you get more honor for defending on flag, so get and keep three. BS, LM, Farm.
IF you’re already all honor geared out then let me help you make a few hundred gold an hour. Take your 10k honor that you can get after 4-5 AB and go trade your honor for a Epic gem (10k honor) have it cut and post on AH for 200g (which should be an undercut)
Congrats you are now making money from PVP, and helping to drive down the cost of titanium ore again.

Ironsoul Vs. Edge of Ruin vs Marrowstrike – Epic Loot: Get in while you can
The irony of 3.2 was that prior to 3.2, for me at least, finding a 2 handed weapon and winning a roll was as likely as finding a nude supermodel in my bed and my wife saying, “go for it”.
After 3.2 though weapons appear to abound for me. Well abound is a strong word, but lets say that of the 8 or so HToC I’ve done I already have Edge of Ruin and Peacekeeper blade along with upwards of 8 epic items both DPS and tanking pieces. Quit literally I have so much gear between my tanking, Arms set, Fury set, and PVP set, oh and tanking PVP set that almost all my bag space is covered in gear. Hell I have 7 leg pieces. Why 7 you ask? Well my staggering leg plates provide a nice 81 def rating that I can’t make def cap without...and I have 3 valor pieces as well as a Conquest Emblem belt, but if I drop my staggering leg plates in exchange for my Valor leg plates...I am no longer at def cap. It’s really sad to be honest with you, I’m in def cap limbo with old gear. THEN if you take into account HIT rating certain items take a back seat when I go fury to get at hit cap so lets just say the "equipment manager" has 7 different "sets" and on each set more than 3 pieces are swapped out on 3 of them ALL gear is swapped out...
On to the weapons though.
Ok lets face it, running 25 man nax every week is...well weak. When you can damn near completely gear out with just the drops from Toc and HToc. In fact they drop two 2 handers that are on par, arguably better, that 10 man Uldar gear (ironsoul)
I’ve warned you already to get in while the getting is good because I suspect blizzard is going to come to its senses and either nerf the hell out of some of the HToC gear and or completely remove the farm badges mode.
Are you PVP minded? Trust me when I say as a warrior getting a weapon PRE 3.2 depended entirely on your ability to get into a nax group. Either that or pvp with a Titansteal destroyer. Now if you Run HToC one time each day you have the opportunity to get TWO weapons out of their better than most Nax 25 weapons. So let me just say if you don’t have HToC on farm mode you truly deserve to get what you deserve....NOTHING. Also ad a weekly 10 man Uldar run too.
If you’re a fresh 80 then you should be farming REGULAR HToC like the place is going out of style. You can nearly gear up in TOC to get to HToC...from a dps perspective at least.
Let me give you some HINTS on how to FARM.
1. BE THE TANK.
2. Create your own group
3. Fill it with warlocks, priests and rogues, shamans and druids
4. Invite NO Pallys, DKs or Hunters.
5. FARM
I was in LFG yesterday and I see a full 5 plate wearers going into HToC. This is ignorant on so many levels I can’t even begin to measure the FAIL of groups like this when you’re trying to gear up, thankfully it was DKs and pallys, way to use your heads warriors.
If you cannot tank then at least create the group and control who you invite. If you HAVE TO invite a plate wearer invite a pally for heals NOT DPS.
So I’ve thus far been unable to get either Ironsoul or Marrowstrike to drop.
I did manage to pick up Edge of Ruin. It’s nice, I like it, it hits hard, it has armor pen, I get 5% more crit with it. I likes it, I can go fury, though I am arms now and doing nice dps.
So the question has been asked, which is better.
Ironsoul?
Edge of Ruin
Marrowstrike?
Well marrowstrike believe it or not has, at least on paper, been proven to give more DPS for your buck than either of these three weapons (I know it’s a polearm). I can’t test this but do know EJ has said it does so it must be true...I Guess.
Does anyone have any REAL LIFE (in game) data to support this claim?

Goblins and Worgen and Races...Oh My!
So unless you've been living under a rock for the last two weeks, or don't know what the internet is...you've probably herd about the recent rumors and speculations on the latest races in the next Expansion Pack.
Recently images were released of Goblin and Worgen Halloween masks to be put out in the coming months. Up till now, the masks have only been of playable races, so naturally, with the recent release of these images (Below) speculation started flying. I mean if

you REALLY read into it these COULD work as races....They COULD work, but probably not well.
Okay so apparently the main Goblin city is hidden in an island or underground or something right next to the Emerald Dream...which is where we (probably) will most logically go next. And the Worgen are from another dimension...or something complicated like that. But I just can't see these races working fictionally. Goblins have always been the perfect neutral race and peacekeepers; I can't see what would drive them to be come horde. Although...there have been times when I am attacked by a mage and I go to charge him, and the goblins jump on my ass....like the mage REALLY needed to be saved from me....
And as I understand it, Worgen are just humans who can take on a wolf like form...so I'm not entirely sure what anyone would be gaining from that.
The biggest thing i think that puts this down would be the fact that blizzard is also releasing a total of 12 new masks this Halloween

Unrelenting Assault Revenge Build
See the purpose of this spec is to use Revenge which with Unrelenting assault has a 1 sec CD.
The problem is that you can only use revenge in Defensive stance. Which means you have to macro out of def stance to intercept or charge, macro back into defensive stance and hope to all hell you’re not dead or completely rage starved at this point.
Any and all benefit you get from a 1 sec Revenge CD is negated by the fact that you’re in battle or zerker stance so often.
I got so frustrated I didn’t get a chance to check actual dps on dummies or in a heroic. Ironically enough you do get a few nifty things.
Concusion blow
Revenge
Shield slam
MORTAL STRIKE
Spell reflect
Ranged silence abilities
BUT I suspect your DPS would be so damn low that it’d be hard to justify...this is just speculation mind you.
The other odd thing Is that where as a warrior you probably spend your life behind targets you might actually benefit from standing in front of a boss so he can dodge and parry to proc Revenge. With it being on a 1 sec CD it’s pretty much spammable and it does hit hard. Couple that with MS, conc blow, and shield slam and I suppose it would be possible to do some semi decent damage. Depending on how you spec you could also get devastate....
I can’t recall if there has ever been an effective “hybrid” warrior build. While I cannot confirm nor deny this would work in a PVE setting I’m more than certain in a PVP setting this “UA Build” just doesn’t quite cut it

3.2 Prot PVP – You can’t kill me
If you’ve read this blog for more than a day you’ve probably learned I live me some PVP, BG’s Arena, world pvp it doesn’t matter. So what’s the first thing I do while I’m waiting to be summoned to an instance? I jump into BG queues of course, and hell why not go as prot.
Let me just say that the 100% increase to damage and bonus sunder armor that devastate got in 3.2 shows up big. Not the pure damage off of devastate, but the armor reduction more specifically. If you glyph to apply two sunder armors per devastate in essence you can have a clothy almost completely ass naked in a 3 second window. Which coupled with 4-8k shield slams and 4-8k revenges and you’re looking at pissing a lot of people off. If that’s not enough speccing and glyphing for spell reflect is the bets way to let casters know you love them.
Did I mention stuns?
Revenge, Concussion blow, Charge, Intercept, Shockwave, if you’re a tauren your racial. I mean MY GOD. Do you know how much fun it is to catch a rogue on an intercept and then stun lock HIS ass for the next 10 seconds all while you dump on him? No? Well let me tell you it’s fun.
Intercept – 3 Seconds
Charge – 1 Second
Revenge - ...what 1-3 seconds
Concussion Blow – 6 seconds
Shockwave – a few more seconds.
Yeah it’s possible to really annoy someone.
I tried doing two different things. Going in my PVP gear and then in my PVE tanking gear. I found that the PVP gear benefited me more as I wasn’t just a meat shield, I was a meat shield with razors on it.
Admittedly I didn’t put up a lot of DAMAGE, per say, but my killing blows were through the roof and I really didn’t have a problem taking on 3 people till help came. Or until the res ticked up in AB, so I was easily surviving 3-4 ally vs. me for around 30 seconds with no problem.
Here’s what I learned. When you go prot your roll isn’t as a killing machine, it’s as BATMAN – that’s to say it’s about your utility --- and that’s to say your stuns, fears, disarms(especially this), spell reflects(also this), demoralizing shouts, thunderclaps, and ranged silences(YES HEROIC THROW DOES THIS 50% chance), and last but not least your devastates.
Let me translate how this all plays out for a prot warrior in 3.2
First your general AOE abilities.
Demo shout - is going to really bring down DPS from melee classes, and not just 1 or 2 people, but ANYONE it hits, so you’re already cutting damage your group is taking by a bit.
Spell reflect – While not quite AoE it does provide reflection for more than just yourself so another reduction in damage
Thunder Clap – Uh reduction in damage
Devastate – when glyphed you’re hitting two people. Not reducing THEIR dps but drastically increasing the damage they are taking.
Stuns – If you’re stunned you’re not doing any healing or dps so to lock someone down can really help, especially since you can then let some of those instant class AoE abilities.
Fears – an easy way to stop people from DPSing.
Disarm – Oh how I love using this on huntards. A hunter without a bow is probably THE single most Gimped thing in the game. You can also use this on DK’s and pallys which seriously reduces their dps.
You simply being in a general vicinity allows for you to quit literally change the course of a fight. And not because you’re dropping people like fly’s but because you change stats so drastically in large groups that a well geared group of people can be lowered in their ability.
In addition to your Utilities prot in 3.2 pvp bring in VERSATILITY. You are really, really, really hard to kill. I mean really hard.
First you really don’t take much damage and or you are reflecting some of it back.
Second you can enraged regen
Thirdly you can shield wall
Lastly you can last stand.
In effect you have a bubble of sorts with shieldwall and last stand. Not that you can’t take damage, but that you get some much health and so much damage reduction its mind numbing.
I’m still working out some of the finer details and have been doing a little research on a
Unrelenting assault Revenge build that I heard rumor about. I’ll probably give that a test run sometime soon and report back.
As for 3.2 prot PVP know that it is possible and it is VERY, VERY fun.

3.2 First Impressions...and it was good.
WOOOOO!!! IT’S PATCH DAY!!!
-Serves Down Till 3:00PM PTD-
Lets see….my time that’s… 6 PM…
*goes to watch NCIS and House*
WOOOOO!!! IT’S PATCH NIGHT!!!
Oh, what a patch it is boys and girls. My favorite to be exact. The first thing I notice upon logging in is that blizzard isn’t “Retrieving Character List,” in fact they are “Ketrieving Character List”
Well this is gonna be good. As soon as blizzard stop trying to Ketrieve and started Retrieving is that my t8.5 helm now has glowing white eyes over the red ones, which looks amazingly Bad Ass…so far I like the patch. So I logg into Dalaran, which is the expected lagg fest, and I head off to the engineering trainer with all my saved up mats like a kid on his first solo trip to the candy store. Well, turns out the robot butler the engineers were promised comes from a rare pattern that you have to farm up...so that’s out for now. Normally I’d go get it, but I can only guess at the all out brawl over those mobs right now.
Just on a side note: And this will be mention on the up coming enchanting guide.
The
And the Rocket Boots now add 24 crit, better than Icewalker (if you don’t need the hit)
Wait? So I get to use those in my PvE gear? In Ulduar? YES!
Here are the patch notes for engineering if you were interested.
Engineering
§ Added a schematic for a Goblin Welding Beam that can heal friendly mechanical units.
§ Alarm-o-Bot functionality changed. Materials required reduced.
§ Box of Bombs no longer requires an anvil.
§ Doubled the duration on Nitro Boosts.
§ Increased benefits from Hyperspeed Accelerators, Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket and Reticulated Armor Webbing glove modifications.

§ Increased siege damage caused by Saronite Bombs and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge.
§ The Ultrasafe Bullet Machine and Saronite Arrow Maker schematics have been simplified to create a full stack of the appropriate ammunition. No longer requires an anvil. Reduced the materials required to make this ammunition.
§ Mote Extractor now has innate tracking for gas clouds while it is in your inventory. Tracking of gas clouds has been removed from goggles.
§ Potion Injectors now increase the amount gained by 25% when used by engineers. Quantity produced by recipes for Runic Healing and Mana Injectors has been increased.
§ Significantly reduced the cooldown on MOLL-E.
§ Spynocular belt enchantment changed to a Brassbolt Rebreather, allowing engineers to breathe underwater.
§ Transporter devices are no longer classified as trinkets and can be used directly from your inventory.
§ Reduced the materials to create all engineering Dragonlings, and reduced their cooldowns, although they still cannot be used in Arenas.
Now the next thing on the list is to go to the Argent Tournament and pick up my new champion dalies and quests. I believe I’ll travel by my new Dimensional Ripper. J
I’m just going to do all of ya’ll a favor and list what you need to do to get all these done. The following list is for those with Crusader and those who have done the Black Night Quest
.
So you’ll notice a lot of new and intimidating stuff, like giant monsters chained up (new bosses) As well as many new vendors (we’ll get to them in just a sec) You may want to check out the new Quartermaster for Crusaders, they have a teleporting tabard, a pretty cool new mount, and a horse for your squire pet that allow him to run errands for you.
First, go pick up ALL the uests you see, including the Black Night Chain, if you didn’t finish it from pre-patch, do so, that way you can get the update.
Fly East to the graveyard, inspect the grave, kill the two guys loitering around.
Turn in, get next part.
Fly West To the new opposing scourge camp set up. Kill 15 of anymob and pick up the keys.
Use the keys on the cages to release the prisoners.
Fly up the ledge and unlock the cage all the way to the far left.
Kill the Doctor, find out that the dark night has been rebuilt
Fly to Chilmaw and kill him
Fly to where the Hero’s Spirits are and pick up the crystals and free them with the item in your bag.
Fly south and do Battle Before The Citadel (now only 3 commanders)
Fly to the center of
Fly Back to the camp and go directly north of it to a new island. Go to the east of the island near the cave mouth and kill the mobs there and pick up the stolen meat.
(Caution, they blow you off your mount…but you’re a warrior…so pfft)
Go to the NW part, use the horn, and summon Hrothgar and kill him (Hope he didn’t bring Beowulf…lolnerdjoke)
Do jousting and your done.
Alright, I have my gold, bought all the new 20 ArP gems I could afford and went into the new 5 man heroic with some guildies.
This is the best heroic.
Ever.
The last boss is a total pain though, you have to fight the black night. You kill him and he comes back as bones. You kill that and he comes back as a ghost…who you have to kill…I mean COME ON!
…
…
Oh…
I get it…
Well…I mean, its only a flesh wound.
Its amazingly short, easy, fun, and the loot is (for the most part) better than naxx. RUN IT!
Almost right after it was raid time, so we went into the new 25 man to do some bosses.
We’ll we can’t
Blizzard is releasing one boss per week, so for the time being there is only one encounter in there, also very easy. Kill a big guy. Kill 2 worms at the same time. Kill a Yeti. The Yeti you may recognize from the 1st WoTLK trailer, the fight is easy enough, tank and spank. At one point you’ll be thrown against the way and have to run away if he targets your. If you get hit he has to be tranq-shotted by a hunter and if you dodge he bumps his noggin and takes 100% more damage. We looted him, got 3 of the new badges, some caster stuff no one cares about ;) and an amazing DPS ring, which I was lucky enough to win. And a trophy that you some how use to get tier gear.
Which happens to be my only complaint about this new patch, the tier is confusing as shyt. There’s a 10 man and 25 man set and a H-10 and H-25 set. Heroic modes can only be unlocked after ever boss is killed (not possible until they are all released) and the tier gear is purchased outside for varying amounts depending on tokens, badges, and trophies.
After, we went into Uld and couldn’t make it past XT because the patch broke him so now he spawns 5x as many adds. So we just killed optionals and FL. I finally picked up the Drape of the Drake rider which upped my DPS a lot.
I’m glad to hear that Black took it unpon himself to check out the PvP, because I haven’t touched it yet. I do have to admit that I am nervous about my brand new 3s team (War/Druid/DK) with the druid and dk nerfs…oh well…I’m a raider anyway.
Coming up soon will the full enchanting guide and it looks like you guys want the Boss Guides out soon too, so I’ll begin work on that.
Here are a few screen shots I took of some new content for ya’ll to see. Enjoy, and happy patch day….night…yesterday…
